LA REALIDAD (Chiapas, Mexico), 1996

We were about 3.000 people coming from five continents to the south-east jungle of  Mexico, dancing the marimba in the mud, sleeping on the floor of wooden barracks with no water or electricity, sharing for a week the bread, the lessons, the dreams of the campesinos. They were peasants, and become warriors to ask for justice, work, dignity. Tired to be invisible, they masked themselves to become visible. Excluded for centuries from the world, they invited the world to the most extra-ordinary socio-economic summit to say ‘no’ to financial capitalism without political responsibility… How prophetic they were, the men of maize
